Some of the most powerful opportunities for positive youth development are found outside of regular school hours. Through its Challenger Learning Center, exhibit spaces, and the FSU Planetarium, the McAuliffe Center offers a unique way for after school programs, scout groups, community-based organizations, etc. to explore and engage youth in STEM concepts, introduce them to STEM careers, and develop critical teamwork and problem-solving skills.
The Challenger Learning Center gives students in grades 5 through 12 the opportunity to take charge of their own simulated mission to space in a realistic NASA-based environment, applying the skills they’ve developed in the classroom to real-world challenges.
The FSU Planetarium is a combination magic carpet and time machine, a compelling vehicle for introducing even the youngest students to a wide range of concepts including space, time, scale, patterns, light, systems, etc.
